Sicilian Basket Black

Our traditional Sicilian 'coffa' basket is handcrafted using local palma nana straw, and adorned with black pom poms, mirrors and buttons. 

Handmade by an older generation of artisans in Sicily, a basket weaver near Palermo heads to the mountains to collect the palma nana straw and weaves each basket by hand. The baskets then travel to the east coast of Sicily where they are adorned in the ancient Sicilian tradition. It takes three days to make each one and there are less than a handful or artisans who still produce these baskets in the traditional manner.
