For our plates, we have chosen to work with ceramic plate producers in Positano, Italy. Positano's ceramic tableware is deeply rooted in the Amalfi Coast’s centuries-old tradition dating back to the Middle Ages. Our ceramic plates are hand-thrown and hand painted with our own bird of peace, community, mushroom and heart motifs. The base of these ceramics is red European clay, often containing limestone. Once it is shaped by a potter and fired, the pot is cooled and dipped into a white coating so that the colours of the designs can stand out. Next, the pottery goes to the hands of the artists. Some artists work for themselves, while others are part of a ceramics factory. Designs are traced lightly onto the piece, and then the painters carefully outline their designs. Finally, the artists fill in the colours with paints usually made of natural materials and mixed to the proper tone by hand. Finally, it is fired again to create a shiny exterior. Our plates are worked and decorated by hand by prestigious Italian ceramicist Solimene Art, designed to create a blessed, joyful and original tablescape for gatherings with family and friends.
