Each mochila is handwoven in Colombia and takes 25 to 30 hours to create by female members of the indigenous Wayuu tribe using techniques passed down for centuries.
The Wayuu, a nomadic tribe located in northeast of Colombia, and the northwest of Venezuela, are the Last indigenous community in Colombia where they inhabit the region of La Guajira. The Wayuu are best known for their beautifully coloured crochet textiles which symbolise their tradition, culture and customs, passed down from generation to generation through the processes of weaving and crocheting, marking a rite of passage.
