Our Marigold yellow dress is made of organic cotton traditionally handwoven and hand-loomed in one of the last remaining traditional mills in Tamil Nadu, South India.

Featuring hand-embroidered floral motifs throughout the top and on straps.

Our organic cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment with systems in place to replenish and sustain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilisers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Cotton crops aren't treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides. Our organic cotton is GMO free.

Conventionally grown cotton uses more insecticides than any other crop in the world. These Pesticides and insecticides used in cotton production contaminate the soil we use to grow crops, the air we breathe and the water we drink. The deaths of animals exposed to these contaminants is counted in the millions every year. The damage caused to us and the environment by growing non-organic cotton is enormous and is a real threat to us and our planet!

Pair it with our Colombian mochilas and embroidered babouches for relaxed summer weekends.

Artisans from Tamil Nadu, South India

The Rainbow Gathering collection was made my artisans in India.  Muzungu Sisters continues to value and champion hand-embroidery, which is sadly a dying art due to the increase in popularity of machine-embroidery. The embroidery on these dresses is done entirely by hand, by talented women embroiderers in Lucknow and Mumbai, India.

The organic cotton used in the Rainbow Gathering collection is traditionally handwoven, and hand-loomed in one of the last remaining traditional mills of its kind in Tamil Nadu, South India, resurrecting ancient hand looming techniques unique to this region and empowering weavers to continue imparting their skills.

Muzungu Sisters only uses natural sustainable, biodegradable materials that leave a minimal trace on our environment. Just as our pieces are designed to be kept for years to come, we believe in a conscious, conservative approach to consumption.
