This ultra-soft, poppy white-print embroidered silk kurta dress features traditional yellow Lucknowi hand-embroidery.
These beautiful dresses are handmade in India and feature delicate traditional Lucknowi hand-embroidery known as 'Chikkan' or 'shadow work'. The embroidery is done on the reverse side of the fabric to create 'shadows', and can take up to four weeks to complete.
Many designers around the world go to Lucknow to have their garments embroidered as this delicate skill requires finesse and is particular to the region. Muzungu Sisters continues to value and champion artisans whose hand-embroidery is truly an art form and makes each of our Embroidered Silk Dresses a unique piece to treasure for years to come.

Artisans from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, India
This garment is made by artisans in India. Muzungu Sisters continues to value and champion hand-embroidery, which is sadly a dying art due to the increase in popularity of machine-embroidery. The embroidery on these pieces has been done entirely by hand by talented women embroiderers in Lucknow and Mumbai, India.
The organic cotton is traditionally handwoven, and hand-loomed in one of the last remaining traditional mills of its kind in Tamil Nadu, South India, resurrecting ancient hand looming techniques unique to this region and empowering weavers to continue imparting their skills. The silks used are OEKO-tex certified.
