Artisans from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, India
The woodland adventure collection was made my artisans in India. Muzungu Sisters continues to value and champion hand-embroidery, which is sadly a dying art due to the increase in popularity of machine-embroidery. The embroidery on these pieces has been done entirely by hand by talented women embroiderers in Lucknow and Mumbai, India.
The organic cotton used in the Woodland Adventure collection is traditionally handwoven, and hand-loomed in one of the last remaining traditional mills of its kind in Tamil Nadu, South India, resurrecting ancient hand looming techniques unique to this region and empowering weavers to continue imparting their skills. The silks used in the collection are all OEKO-tex certified.
Muzungu Sisters only uses natural sustainable, biodegradable materials that leave a minimal trace on our environment. Just as our pieces are designed to be kept for years to come, we believe in a conscious, conservative approach to consumption
